Hello Anoka Community
It's nice to meet you!
Hi there! I’m Heather Loeffler Rostad, and I’m proud to call Anoka home with my family since 2019. With over two decades of experience in education, including as a social studies teacher at Anoka High School, my recent work in talent and leadership development in the corporate financial sector, and state government as an employee programs consultant, I bring a unique blend of skills and perspectives to the table. My educational background includes a master’s degree in education and extensive graduate work in policymaking and intergovernmental agencies.
Anoka holds a special place in our hearts because of its welcoming community, the generosity of its people, and its commitment to preserving and stewarding the natural beauty of our surroundings.
Throughout my career, I’ve remained steadfast in my belief that we all thrive when we support one another, collaborate effectively, and find common ground. These principles are fundamental to a healthy democracy, and I see them as essential elements of serving on our city council. Thank you for considering supporting me as I embark on this journey.
Key priorities
- Citizen engagement: I believe in actively involving our community in decision-making processes and ensuring their voices are heard.
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability: I’m committed to working with organizations like Anoka's Waste Reduction & Recycling Board to promote and grow initiatives such as household composting and yard waste reduction.
- Responsible economic development: I advocate for economic growth that benefits our community while preserving our unique character and heritage. The Social District has been a great addition to our city. Let’s keep ideas like this moving forward! Current city land holdings have great potential to create additional growth keeping in theme with our city’s footprint.
- Historical preservation and beautification: I recognize the importance of preserving our city’s history and enhancing its beauty for future generations to enjoy.
- Transparency and clarity of policy: I’m dedicated to ensuring that our policies are transparent, easily understandable, and accessible to all residents.
- Safety: I prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents and will work to implement measures that enhance public safety in our community. This includes updating our community resources such as the senior center and public spaces to increase use and improve ease of public use.
REach out!
I’m eager to hear from you about your priorities and visions for our city. Together, we can make Anoka an even better place to live, work, and thrive.
